FAMILYBITE

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 23, 2026

FamilyBite is operated by Synecoders (“FamilyBite”, “we”, “us” or “our”). Questions about this policy or your personal data can be sent to .

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data when you use the FamilyBite iPhone and iPad app, its widgets, and the FamilyBite website (together, the “Service”). It is intended to help you understand what we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

2. The information you provide

The information we process depends on how you use FamilyBite. It may include:

Please do not add personal information about another person unless you have the right to share it. In particular, a scanned family recipe or a household note may contain information about someone else.

3. Information collected through use of the Service

We and the infrastructure needed to operate the Service may process limited technical information, such as your authenticated account identifier, app and operating-system version, device language, IP address and request or error logs. We use this information to deliver the Service, keep it secure, prevent abuse and diagnose technical problems.

If you opt in to notifications, we process your device push token, notification settings and language so that we can send the household notifications you request. You can turn notifications off in FamilyBite or in your device settings.

FamilyBite stores selected household content locally on your device to make shopping and meal-planning features available offline. Its widgets use a deliberately limited local snapshot: shopping-list names, a limited number of item names and their completed status, and the title and progress of recipes in progress. This local information is shared only between FamilyBite and its own widget extension on the same device; it does not include account credentials, email addresses or full recipe instructions.

4. How we use information

We use personal data to:

Where GDPR or similar law applies, we generally process data to perform our contract with you, with your consent where required (for example, device notifications), to comply with legal obligations, or for our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the Service.

5. Shared households

FamilyBite is built for shared households. When you join a household, its members can see and work with the household’s shared recipes, meal plan, shopping lists and related progress. Members may also see the names and profile photos of other household members. Please use care before adding material to a household, because other members of that household can access it.

If you leave a household or delete your account, content that has been shared with a household may remain available to its other members where necessary to preserve the household’s shared records. You can delete individual content in the app where that option is available.

6. Recipe imports and third-party sites

When you ask FamilyBite to import a recipe from a URL, we send that URL to our recipe-import service so it can retrieve and extract the recipe data. The owner of the linked website may have its own privacy practices and terms. We do not control those third-party websites, and this Policy does not apply to them. Review the source website’s policy before using its content.

Recipes, photographs and scans you upload are stored to provide the Service and may be visible to members of the household to which you save them. You remain responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to upload and share that material.

7. When we share information

We do not sell personal data and do not use FamilyBite data for third-party behavioural advertising. We share information only as needed to provide the Service, including:

8. Purchases and subscriptions

Where FamilyBite offers a paid subscription, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only the information needed to confirm and manage your entitlement, such as a transaction or subscription status and an account-association identifier. We do not collect or store your complete payment-card information.

9. Retention and deletion

We retain account information and household content for as long as your account or the relevant household remains active, and for as long as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations or protect the Service. Local offline caches and widget snapshots are cleared when you sign out, delete your account, lose household membership or delete a household.

You can request account deletion in the app. The deletion flow asks you to confirm the request. You can also contact us at the email above if you need help exercising your deletion rights. Some information may be retained for a limited period in backups, security logs or where law requires it.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please keep your device and account access secure and contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

11. International processing

FamilyBite and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal data. You may contact us for further information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time; this does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

To exercise these rights, email . We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

13. Children

FamilyBite is not directed to children under the age at which they can lawfully consent to data processing in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in breach of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as FamilyBite develops or as legal requirements change. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
